Falling Up 04:45
Falling Up (Winters/Sherman) There are some pretty brilliant people Digging into dirt What matters in the matter When they make it all revert To some tiny little pieces Just floating in the air But when they stare right at it Looks like there's nothing there
How can that be What does it even mean If everything's illusion And the world is running lean If the joke is on us And nothing's false and nothing's true Then I'm running right out this door And I'm running right back to you
I'M FALLING UP BABE SLIPPING SIDEWAYS NOW EVERYTHING IS CRAZY AND ONE AND ONE MUST BE THREE IF THE WORLD IS SPINNING BACKWARDS ARE YOU IN LOVE WITH ME
Well Einstein didn't like it But he didn't known which was worse If God does or doesn't gamble Or play dice with the universe If my clock is ticking strangely And my north is going south Then I'm breathing too much oxygen And my heart is in my mouth
 I'M FALLING UP BABE...
Oh oh oh Everything is straining at the seams Oh oh oh Tell me are we living in a dream
It was the middle of the night And I was laying on the ground Looking up at the stars above When my phone made that sound Your message made me shiver Coming in out of the blue You said I'm looking up at the stars above And I'm thinking about you too
 I'M FALLING UP BABE....
Oh oh oh Everything is straining at the seams Oh oh oh Tell me are we living in a dream
You may be on the other side of the planet my dear But may I have this dance
I'M FALLING UP BABE SLIPPING SIDEWAYS NOW EVERYTHING IS CRAZY AND ONE AND ONE MUST BE THREE IF THE WORLD IS SPINNING BACKWARDS ARE YOU IN LOVE WITH ME
Oh oh oh Everything is straining at the seams Oh oh oh Tell me are we living in a dream Oh oh oh Tell me are we living....

Life Story 04:27
Life Story (Winters,Sherman) So a guy walks into a bar somewhere downtown Starts working on a beer Ignoring the band Gets himself all buried in pen and paper And then he says he's gonna write it all out by hand
Well it's a slow night and the women are few I ain't got much else to do...
I'M GONNA WRITE OUT MY LIFE STORY BREAK IT DOWN INTO A THREE ACT PLAY GONNA START IN THE MIDDLE AND WRITE IN BOTH DIRECTIONS GONNA PUT IT ALL DOWN AND SEND IN MY SCREENPLAY
He's says hey man I got a hell of a tale to tell you And I swear it's all true but hey well who's to say If it's written in the stars or mixed up in the entrails They might have to come and take me away
You know some people They're not going to like it But it ain't my job to make their day My friends they will all moan and chatter Well hey what the hell they hate me anyway

I start reading over his shoulder Is he a genius or a fool I know I've never seen anything like it And I know they're never gonna read it in school
I'M GONNA WRITE OUT MY LIFE STORY BREAK IT DOWN INTO A THREE ACT PLAY GONNA START IN THE MIDDLE AND WRITE IN BOTH DIRECTIONS GONNA PUT IT ALL DOWN AND SEND IN MY SCREENPLAY

Paralyzed 04:19
Paralyzed (Winters,Sherman) I saw a chance today And I watched that moment slip away I swear it even smiled as it went by Just rolled on by like a river

And I don't know how many more She said what are you waiting for Why don't you even try You know you don't have forever
AND AS I STAND OUTSIDE LOOKING IN WAITING FOR A SIGNAL TO BEGIN WITH NOTHING NEW NO CHANGE NO SURPRISE I'M PARALYZED
How long would someone wait around
What if something shook my steady ground What would I win or lose Or do they both come together
And some would never risk defeat And some will test the water with both feet You should be glad you still can choose You know you don't have forever
AND AS I STAND OUTSIDE LOOKING IN WAITING FOR A SIGNAL TO BEGIN WITH NOTHING NEW NO CHANGE NO SURPRISE I'M PARALYZED
I know where I'm strong And why I'm weak I know I'm nowhere near unique I'm just faded by the sun And I don't have forever...

AND AS I STAND OUTSIDE LOOKING IN WAITING FOR A SIGNAL TO BEGIN WITH NOTHING NEW NO CHANGE NO SURPRISE I'M PARALYZED

You're My California (Winters, Sherman) We all know places that really don't exist That's a billion dollar business babe We can't resist Like a happy shiny Hollywood Or a gritty Chinatown I'm gonna drive my Silver Ghost up the coast And surf my way back down Are you real Are you there Do you breathe warm Pacific air Does your heart beat strong When you know you are where you belong Are you real Are you true Or just my dream of you In the cool desert night You come alive You're my California I got pictures running through my head I got images of a time and a place While I'm lying in my bed I see you and me under a big oak tree On a day out in the park There you'll stay in an ideal way In a light that never goes dark © 2013 Drew Winters

Poor Poor Soul (Winters,Sherman) I could settle in for a quiet night But there's something here And it just ain't right There's too much happiness There on my screen
And I wonder who can these people be They start at A and always get to B While I see I'm somewhere in between
Well yesterday was just a mess Today is gonna be the same I guess I confess I'm falling down a rabbit hole
When I see them on that TV show With their great big smiles and happy glow I know I know I'm a poor poor soul
EVERYBODY'S HAVING TOO MUCH FUN ON TV EVERYBODY'S HAVING WAY MORE FUN THAT ME BABY I JUST DON'T NEED THIS MISERY I'M A POOR POOR SOUL
Now I see that that I've been had I'm growing grey and I'm going mad With every single spin I see and hear
When all those pretty girls and boys With their bouncy curls and their shiny toys Would jump for joy at a clear light beer
EVERYBODY'S HAVING TOO MUCH FUN ON TV EVERYBODY'S HAVING WAY MORE FUN THAT ME BABY I JUST DON'T NEED THIS MISERY I'M A POOR POOR SOUL

Some Words 04:11
Some Words (Winters,Sherman) I once heard a story About a girl who wasn't there She had taken leave of love or glory And I couldn't help but wonder If you and her had things you share If the way you live could somehow slip under Under these rules we bear BUT SOME WORDS RING IN YOUR HEAD AND SOME JUST BOUNCE AROUND YOUR BED AND SOME WORDS ARE LOST ON HEARTS ONCE BROKEN SOME WORDS COME MUCH TOO LATE THOSE THAT PUNCH ABOVE THEIR WEIGHT AND SOME WORDS ARE BETTER LEFT UNSPOKEN
I don't know why This story lingers Through all my days and nights When you slipped away Right through my fingers But I hear your voice And your explanations I hear the echoes Whispers and fights I hear the loss and resignation As you fade out of sight BUT SOME WORDS RING IN YOUR HEAD AND SOME JUST BOUNCE AROUND YOUR BED AND SOME WORDS ARE LOST ON HEARTS ONCE BROKEN SOME WORDS COME MUCH TOO LATE THOSE THAT PUNCH ABOVE THEIR WEIGHT AND SOME WORDS ARE BETTER LEFT UNSPOKEN I don't know why This story lingers Through all my days and nights When you slipped away You slipped away

Stand Me Up 04:39
Stand Me Up (Winters, Sherman) Well I been walking through this city But I never walk alone There's another there beside me One I can call my own Stand me up Hold me up girl And I won't fall down Now she might beg to differ She might say none of it is true Or she might question the order And wonder who's holding who Though I do support her There's one thing that I know I depend more on her presence Even when it doesn't show Stand me up..... Together we have no fear When I can hold her close And whisper in her ear Stand me up..... Now some will say they're stronger Just stronger by themselves And they will work on their illusions Believing that all is well Bu together we have no fear When I can hold her close And whisper in her ear Stand me up Hold me up girl And I won't fall down And I'll stand you up Hold you up girl And we won't fall down © 2013 Drew Winters

Devils and Angels (Winters, Sherman) He's gonna run for president Gonna make sure his money's well spent With a big rally in the deep, deep south Words of gospel coming out of his mouth Gonna pray night and day Looks good, that's what they say Head to heaven and knees bent One eye closed and one watching CNN And he's up ten points today Gotta have some faith in the good ol' USA Devils and angels in our way Gotta fight them everyday They're hoping to find the deaf, dumb and blind And fool them one more time Devils and angels in our way today My dad can beat your dad We're nothin' but good You're nothin' but bad My god can beat your god We're coming for you And we won't spare the rod And he's up ten points today Gotta have some faith in the good ol' USA Devils and angels in our way.... And if they're spreading your old sin You can just be born again It's that black and white On the Christian right And God wants you to win And he's up ten points today Gotta have some faith in the good ol' USA Devils and angels in our way.... © 2013 Drew Winters

If I tell you a story Would you believe it's true If I change the names and place the blame On the crazy things we do From the very beginning Everything she did was wrong At every choice there's her mother's voice Even though it's been so long So I could tell you a story Or we could just pretend But I will sing this temporary thing And get back home again When he came to the city Might have been a bit naive But how this ends well it all depends On what you believe She could say she is happy He might even agree They would say that it wouldn't work anyway So just let it be So I could tell you a story Or we could just pretend But I will sing this temporary thing And get back home again He has everything and yet It's killing him with no regret From the very day they met He's never been the same Try to stop before it starts Living with their damaged hearts Miles away and lives apart They can't escape the sting Of this temporary thing © 2013 Drew Winters

Wanted Man (Winters,Sherman) Too many times I found myself here Watching her go and waiting for my head to clear Pulling up my courage and pushing down the fear This kind of love is so raw Shouldn't be allowed to make a man wait Gotta be illegal to reside in this state Who am I to ever try and tempt fate But there oughta be a law It's a crime It's a crime to leave me this way And she breaks the law When she comes back to me And then she just runs away From the touch of a hand The brush of a kiss I said to myself It don't get better than this I was a wanted man I remember this one time When her eyes went wild And she just rolled down a grassy hill Giggling like a child I felt like everything I knew was suddenly on trial I was out of control Then we're alone We're alone and she's on me like a cat I think every man oughta have A few moments like that When she's on top and I'm flat on my back We were on such a roll And I remember every moment that we stole It's a crime... In a perfect world She would be my girl But I won't wait forever I cant' live in the past Ain't it funny how the first Is the only one to last It's a crime... © 2013 Drew Winters
