Sting once said that he was surprised when people would tell him that they played 'Every Breath You Take' at their wedding. To him it's a pretty creepy song about a stalker, lol. I wonder sometimes if people might get that impression from this tune, with lines like "you know where you belong" and "this law of me and you". But that's looking back from today's hyper-PC environment. It's really more about how a relationship can just feel so right, so natural. And yet now there's an unease, where the writer is sensing something's wrong, or maybe his insecurities are biting. So basically it boils down to ... "would it kill ya to say 'I love you' once on a while?" ;-)

How It's Done
(Winters,Sherman)
I see something missing here
A silence for too long
You better find the words soon
You know where you belong
And I know it too
This law of me and you
But you've been quiet all this time
It's true
This is how it's done
If you've been wondering
This is what you say
I miss you today
This is what you do
You could say
I need you
That's how it's done
These words are not foreign to you
Try them on for size
There are always other choices
That you have yet to realize
But for words to be sung
You need breath in the lung
And the chances come and go
One by one
I want to know, I want to know
You tell me, you tell me now
That's how it's done
